Thoughtful, poetic hip-hop with a literary heart. Clean production and earnest storytelling for fans of conscious rap and indie-pop sensibilities.
Transit22 creates a space where hip-hop meets high-level poetry. His sound is characterized by a crisp, clean production style that avoids the grit of traditional boom-bap in favor of melodic clarity and bright, often piano-driven arrangements. It feels like a conversation with a very observant friend who happens to have a rhythmic, effortless flow.
What sets him apart is the lack of artifice. There is a distinct Canadian earnestness to his work, blending social commentary with deeply personal self-reflection. His collaborations with artists like Grieves and Astronautalis highlight his position in the 'indie-rap' world, where the focus is on the weight of the words and the cleverness of the metaphor rather than club-ready bravado.
Start with the album '22' to hear his most balanced work. It serves as a perfect entry point for those who appreciate the storytelling of Shad or the atmospheric, introspective moods of the Rhymesayers roster, delivered with a unique Western Canadian perspective.
