SerGa (СерьГа) was formed in 1994 by Sergey Galanin following his departure from the legendary band Brigada S. While Brigada S was known for its brass-heavy, theatrical energy, SerGa shifted toward a more guitar-centric, blues-rock aesthetic.
The band became a cornerstone of the 'Russian Rock' second wave, bridging the gap between the rebellious 80s underground and the more professional, melodic rock of the 90s. Galanin's songwriting is characterized by a 'kind' philosophy, often eschewing the aggressive political stances of his contemporaries in favor of humanist themes, friendship, and romanticism. Sonically, the band adheres to classic rock traditions, utilizing analog textures and straightforward song structures that emphasize vocal delivery. Over three decades, they have maintained a consistent presence in the Russian media landscape, evolving from 90s hitmakers to elder statesmen of the genre.
