Chaco

Released in 1995, Chaco is the third studio album by Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas (Dante Spinetta and Emmanuel Horvilleur) and serves as their commercial and artistic breakthrough. Produced by Mariano Lopez and mastered by Ted Jensen, the album represents a sophisticated leap in production quality, blending live instrumentation with a hip-hop sensibility. The title references the Chaco province, signaling a thematic interest in Argentine identity and social marginalization, though the lyrics are famously peppered with 'Kuryaki' slang - a surrealist invented dialect.
