Champs Elysées

Released in 2000, Champs Elysées represents the pinnacle of Bob Sinclar's 'French Touch' era. Following the success of Paradise, this sophomore effort solidified Sinclar as a key figure in the French electronic scene alongside Daft Punk and Cassius. The album is heavily influenced by 1970s disco and funk, utilizing sophisticated sampling techniques to recontextualize classic grooves for modern dance floors. The lead single, 'I Feel for You,' became a massive club hit, featuring a prominent sample from Cerrone's 'Look for Love.' Unlike the more minimalist house coming out of Chicago or the harder techno from Detroit, this album leaned into the 'chic' Parisian identity, incorporating elements of jazz, gospel, and pop. It was recorded during a period of intense creativity for the Yellow Productions label, which Sinclar co-founded, and helped export the sophisticated, melodic French house sound to a global audience. Critics praised its production quality and its ability to bridge the gap between underground credibility and mainstream appeal.
