Desensitized

Released in 2004, Desensitized represents a pivotal and difficult chapter for Drowning Pool. Following the tragic passing of original vocalist Dave Williams, the band recruited Jason 'Gong' Jones to take the helm. Sonically, the album marks a departure from the 'jump-da-fuck-up' nu metal style of their debut, Sinner, moving toward a more traditional Alternative Metal and Hard Rock sound. The riffs are more complex, and the vocal delivery leans into a gritty, melodic baritone that echoes the post-grunge movement of the era. Despite the internal pressures and the eventual departure of Jones shortly after the release, the album was a commercial success, debuting at No. 17 on the Billboard 200.
