Evocation II – Pantheon

Released in 2017, Evocation II – Pantheon is the conceptual successor to 2009's Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion. It marks a pivotal moment in Eluveitie's history, being the first full-length release following a major line-up fracture that saw the departure of several long-time members. The album introduces vocalist Fabienne Erni, whose versatile clean singing becomes the focal point of this acoustic venture. Sonically, the album eschews all melodic death metal elements in favor of a pure folk approach, utilizing Gaulish lyrics reconstructed with the help of academic linguists. The recording features an expanded array of traditional instruments, including the nyckelharpa and uilleann pipes, creating a rich, chamber-folk texture. Critically, it was praised for its authenticity and the seamless integration of the new members, proving the band's vision could survive and thrive outside the confines of heavy metal.
