Room to Roam marks the culmination of Mike Scott’s 'Spiddal House' period, where he relocated the band to the west of Ireland to immerse themselves in traditional music. Following the massive success of Fisherman’s Blues, this 1990 release leans even further into acoustic purity, featuring an expanded lineup that included traditional luminaries like Sharon Shannon. The album is notable for its structure, consisting of 18 tracks that range from minute-long traditional tunes to expansive spiritual explorations like 'A Life of Sundays.'
