The Way of All Flesh

Released in 2008, The Way of All Flesh solidified Gojira's position as leaders of the global progressive metal scene. Following the breakthrough success of From Mars to Sirius, this album pushed their technical abilities to the limit while narrowing the conceptual focus to the transition from life to death. Recorded at the band's own Le Studio des Milandes in France, the album features a guest appearance by Randy Blythe of Lamb of God on 'Adoration for None,' signaling their arrival on the international stage. Musically, it is defined by Mario Duplantier's innovative drumming and Joe Duplantier's 'pick-scrape' guitar technique, which creates a signature mechanical, screeching sound. The album is notable for its inclusion of 'The Art of Dying,' widely considered one of the greatest metal compositions of the 21st century, and a hidden ambient track that closes the 17-minute title piece, emphasizing the album's themes of silence and the afterlife.
