Airborn

Airborn is an Italian power metal band formed in Turin in 1996, led by founder Alessio Perardi. While many Italian contemporaries pursued a symphonic or 'Hollywood' metal style, Airborn carved a niche by adhering closer to the Teutonic speed metal tradition, specifically influenced by Gamma Ray and Iron Savior.

This connection was solidified early on when Piet Sielck (Iron Savior) produced their debut, 'Against The World'. Over nearly three decades, the band has evolved from straightforward speed metal into more complex, conceptual territory, most notably with their 'Lizard Secrets' trilogy. Their work is characterized by high-register vocals, intricate twin-guitar work, and lyrical themes spanning from historical legends to futuristic science fiction. Despite numerous lineup changes and the tragic loss of early bassist Alberto Leschi, Perardi has maintained a consistent sonic identity centered on anthemic songwriting and technical proficiency. They occupy a respected position in the European underground, valued for their refusal to succumb to over-orchestration while maintaining the melodic core of the genre.
