Formed in 1998 in Springfield, Massachusetts, All That Remains emerged as a cornerstone of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal. Led by former Shadows Fall vocalist Philip Labonte, the band evolved from a raw melodic death metal outfit on their debut, 'Behind Silence and Solitude', into a polished, chart-topping metalcore powerhouse.
Their sophomore effort, 'This Darkened Heart', produced by Adam Dutkiewicz, established their signature formula of combining Gothenburg-style riffs with hardcore breakdowns. The 2006 release 'The Fall of Ideals' is widely regarded as a masterpiece of the genre, cementing their legacy alongside peers like Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying. Over time, the band expanded their palette to include hard rock influences, achieving significant commercial success with ballads and arena-ready anthems while maintaining a technical edge through the virtuosic lead guitar work of the late Oli Herbert. Despite numerous lineup changes, they remain a consistent force in the heavy music scene, balancing vulnerability in their lyrics with a steadfastly aggressive sonic identity.
