Hatebreed

Hatebreed is a seminal force in the American metalcore and hardcore scenes, originating from the Connecticut hardcore (CTHC) movement of the mid-1990s. Led by vocalist Jamey Jasta, the band is credited with effectively bridging the cultural and sonic divide between metal and hardcore punk.

Their sound is characterized by 'beatdown' grooves, thrash-metal speed, and Jasta's rhythmic, shouting vocal delivery. Unlike many aggressive acts, Hatebreed's lyrical themes are famously positive and motivational, focusing on perseverance, self-respect, and overcoming adversity. Their 1997 debut, 'Satisfaction Is the Death of Desire', is considered a landmark of the genre, while their 2002 major-label debut 'Perseverance' brought the hardcore sound to the Billboard charts. They have influenced a generation of heavy bands ranging from Knocked Loose to Parkway Drive. Critically, they are viewed as the gold standard for 'moshcore,' maintaining a consistent aesthetic for over three decades while successfully navigating the transition from underground VFW halls to major festival stages.
