Krisiun

Krisiun is a foundational pillar of the Brazilian death metal scene, formed in Ijuí, Rio Grande do Sul, in 1990. Composed of brothers Alex Camargo, Moyses Kolesne, and Max Kolesne, the trio has maintained a remarkably stable lineup for over thirty years.

Their sound identity is characterized by extreme velocity, particularly the 'hyper-blast' drumming of Max Kolesne and the relentless tremolo-picked riffs of Moyses. While early releases like 'Black Force Domain' leaned into the raw, savage energy of the South American underground, their mid-career work on Century Media Records saw a shift toward a more technical, groove-oriented approach without sacrificing speed. They are frequently compared to US acts like Deicide and Morbid Angel but are distinguished by a specific rhythmic 'swing' and a lack of samples or keyboards. Critically, they are respected for their 'no-frills' commitment to the genre, avoiding trends in favor of a pure, high-intensity aesthetic. Their influence is felt across the brutal and technical death metal subgenres, serving as a bridge between old-school savagery and modern precision.
