Kruger (Крюгер) is a foundational fixture of the Russian metal scene, formed in 1989 by Aleksandr 'Hamer' Kuryakov. Initially emerging from the late-Soviet thrash metal explosion, the band's early work like 'Embryon Satany' leaned into the darker, more aggressive tropes of the era.

However, by the late 1990s, they pivoted toward a self-styled 'diesel-rock' sound, blending the speed of thrash with the anthemic qualities of hard rock and heavy metal.
