Intro

Los Twist sounds like a technicolor explosion in a black-and-white era. They take the DNA of 1950s rock and roll and 1960s surf and twist, then inject it with the frantic energy of post-punk and ska. The music is relentlessly upbeat, driven by twangy guitars and honking saxophones that make it impossible to stay still. It feels like a celebration, but one with a mischievous glint in its eye.

What truly sets them apart is the contrast between their sunny, retro sound and their razor-sharp lyrics. Led by Pipo Cipolatti and Daniel Melingo, the band used humor and sarcasm to navigate the complex social and political landscape of Argentina in the early 80s. They turned heavy subjects into danceable anthems, using a deadpan delivery that made their social commentary even more effective.

Start with their debut, 'La dicha en movimiento'. Produced by the legendary Charly García, it is a perfect snapshot of their peak energy. It contains the essentials like 'Pensé que se trataba de cieguitos', a song that perfectly encapsulates their ability to hide profound meaning inside a catchy, upbeat pop structure.

Los Twist was an Argentine pop rock group formed on March 30, 1982, in Buenos Aires. Their music and aesthetics were inspired by the rockabilly and incorporated the twist rhythm from the 60s, plus a good dose of ska, while their lyrics contained social, personal and even political statements treated with humor and sarcasm. The band officially broke up on April 30, 2012. Their first album, "La dicha en movimiento" from 1983 was produced by Charly García, and sold 120,000 copies. Among their most famous songs are: Pensé que se trataba de cieguitos, Cleopatra, la reina del twist, 25 estrellas de oro, El rockabilly de los Narcisos, Cheek to Cheek, Twist de Luis, Ricardo Rubén, El estudiante, and Estoy herido, etc.
