Marc Acardipane

Marc Trauner, primarily known as Marc Acardipane, is arguably the most influential figure in the history of hardcore techno. Based in Frankfurt, he co-founded Planet Core Productions (PCP) and is widely credited with producing the first true gabber/hardcore track, 'We Have Arrived', in 1990 under the Mescalinum United alias.

His sound identity is defined by the creative misuse of the Roland TR-909, specifically overdriving the output to create the 'distorted kick' that became the genre's hallmark. Throughout the 1990s, he operated under dozens of aliases, each exploring a different facet of hard electronic music, from the dark, atmospheric techno of The Mover to the more commercial-leaning hardstyle of Marshall Masters.
