Sad

Sad is a Greek black metal duo formed in 2005 by Ungod (instrumentation) and Nadir (lyrics/vocals). They represent a specific strain of the Hellenic scene that rejects the symphonic or 'epic' elements popularized by bands like Rotting Christ, opting instead for a raw, depressive, and minimalist aesthetic.

Their early output was characterized by extreme speed in production; their debut 'Total Nothingness' was reportedly recorded in under ten hours, a methodology that preserved a sense of spontaneous, unedited aggression. Over nearly two decades, they have maintained a prolific release schedule including full-lengths like 'Enlightened by Darkness' and 'Abandoned and Forgotten'. Critically, they are regarded as a reliable pillar of the 'Depressive Suicidal Black Metal' (DSBM) subgenre, though they lean more toward the 'raw' end of that spectrum rather than the atmospheric or ambient side. Their influence is felt most strongly in the underground tape-trading and vinyl circles that value analog warmth and ideological purity in black metal.
