Savage Circus

Savage Circus was formed in 2004 as a creative vehicle for drummer Thomas 'Thomen' Stauch following his high-profile departure from Blind Guardian. Seeking to return to the more aggressive, speed-oriented roots of his former band's 'Imaginations from the Other Side' era, Stauch recruited Piet Sielck (Iron Savior) and members of the Swedish band Persuader.

This collaboration created a bridge between the German power metal tradition and the darker, more aggressive Swedish melodic metal scene. The band's sound identity is built on 'wall of sound' production, characterized by extensive vocal layering and Sielck's signature dry, punchy guitar tones. Despite significant lineup shifts, including the involvement of Mike Terrana and the eventual departure of the Swedish contingent, the band maintained a reputation for technical excellence and 'old school' power metal purity. Critical consensus highlights them as one of the few projects to successfully replicate the specific 'epic speed metal' niche that dominated the mid-90s, serving as a spiritual successor to early Blind Guardian while incorporating the harder edge of Persuader. Though currently inactive, their two studio albums remain cult classics among power metal completionists for their uncompromising speed and melodic density.
