Sinsaenum

Sinsaenum is a multinational extreme metal supergroup that successfully bridges the gap between the atmospheric nihilism of black metal and the technical brutality of death metal. Formed in 2016 by Frédéric Leclercq (formerly of Dragonforce), the band was designed as a vehicle for his darker, more aggressive musical impulses.

The inclusion of members from Mayhem, Slipknot, and Chimaira created a unique sonic identity that avoids the 'too many cooks' pitfall of supergroups, instead focusing on a cohesive, high-fidelity extreme metal sound. Their work is characterized by dense layering, dual-vocalist dynamics (Attila Csihar and Sean Zatorsky), and a focus on rhythmic complexity. Following the tragic passing of founding drummer Joey Jordison in 2021, the band has continued to evolve, maintaining their status as a premier act in the blackened death metal scene. Critically, they are praised for bringing a polished, modern production aesthetic to genres that often lean into lo-fi tropes, making them a gateway for fans of mainstream metal into more extreme territories.
