The Paladins

High-octane roots rock that hits like a shot of whiskey. Gritty guitar leads and slapping upright bass for roadhouses, desert drives, and late-night dance floors.

Intro

The Paladins deliver a masterclass in American roots music, stripping away the polish of modern production to reveal the raw, beating heart of rock and roll. Their sound is a high-speed collision between the swing of jump blues, the twang of classic rockabilly, and the muscular grit of Texas blues. It is music that feels lived-in, sweat-soaked, and perpetually in motion, anchored by a rhythm section that prioritizes the physical thump of the upright bass.

What truly sets them apart is the interplay between Dave Gonzalez's stinging guitar work and the percussive slap of the double bass. They manage to sound like a much larger ensemble through sheer technical intensity and a deep understanding of groove. Unlike many revivalist acts that feel like museum pieces, The Paladins play with a contemporary urgency that bridges the gap between 1950s jukeboxes and modern roadhouse culture.

Start with 'Years Since Yesterday' to hear them at their commercial peak, or dive into 'Live at the Belly Up' to experience the relentless energy that made them legends on the touring circuit. It is the perfect soundtrack for anyone who prefers their rock and roll with a little dirt under its fingernails and a lot of soul in its stride.

The Paladins are an American roots rock-rockabilly band from San Diego, California. Founded in the early 1980s by guitarist Dave Gonzalez and his high school friend and double bass player Thomas Yearsley, they have recorded nine studio albums and built a reputation as a hard-working live band.
