High-octane rockabilly anchored by a masterclass in percussive slap bass. Gritty, swinging, and built for the open road or a crowded dive bar.
Lee Rocker brings the raw, kinetic energy of 1950s rock and roll into the modern era with a sound that is physically impossible to sit still to. It is music built around the upright bass, not as a background rhythm, but as a thumping, percussive heart that drives every track forward. The guitars provide a classic Gretsch twang that cuts through the mix, while the vocals carry a seasoned, road-worn grit that feels authentic and unpretentious.
What truly sets Rocker apart is his 'slap' technique, a style that treats the bass as both a melodic and a drum instrument. This creates a unique, clattering rhythmic foundation that gives the music a sense of perpetual motion. It is a sound that honors the pioneers of the genre while injecting a contemporary muscle and production clarity that keeps it from feeling like a mere museum piece.
Start with 'Black Cat Bone' to hear the perfect intersection of his Stray Cats roots and his solo evolution. It showcases the full breadth of his ability to blend blues, country, and rock into a singular, high-energy experience. It is the ideal soundtrack for anyone who appreciates the craft of live, hand-played music with a rebellious streak.
