WarCry

WarCry is a cornerstone of the Spanish heavy metal scene, formed in 2001 following the high-profile departure of Víctor García and Alberto Ardines from the band Avalanch. Based in Asturias, the band quickly established themselves as leaders of the 'Iberian Power Metal' movement.

Their early work, specifically the self-titled debut and 'El Sello de los Tiempos', adhered to the genre's tropes: high-speed tempos, neoclassical influences, and epic lyrical themes. However, the 2004 release 'Alea Jacta Est' marked a significant pivot toward progressive metal and more complex arrangements. This evolution continued through albums like '¿Dónde Está La Luz?' , which traded speed for melodic depth and social commentary. García remains the primary creative force, known for a vocal style that moved from high-pitched power metal screams to a more mature, emotive baritone. They are critically regarded as one of the most successful Spanish-speaking metal acts, maintaining a massive following across Spain and Latin America through a consistent release schedule and a reputation for powerful live performances.
