Cyanide Sisters

Released in 2010, Cyanide Sisters served as the world's introduction to Seth Haley's Com Truise project, effectively blueprinting the 'mid-fi synthwave' aesthetic. While later albums would refine this sound into more polished, cinematic experiences, this EP captures a raw, experimental energy characterized by aggressive tape saturation and heavy, gated percussion. The title track and 'Sundriped' established Haley's signature 'slow-motion funk' - a style that takes the DNA of 80s synth-pop and slows it down until the grooves become thick and psychedelic. The EP was originally released via AMDISCS before Haley signed to Ghostly International, and it remains a cornerstone of the retro-synth movement. Sonically, it relies heavily on analog emulation and hardware-inspired textures, creating a sense of 'technological nostalgia' that influenced a generation of electronic producers. It stands as a pivotal moment where the vaporwave and synthwave trajectories intersected.
