Silicon Tare is the fourth EP by Seth Haley, released in 2016 on Ghostly International. It serves as the penultimate chapter in his multi-release conceptual narrative concerning the world's first 'synthetic astronaut.' Sonically, the EP marks a shift toward 'warmer' and 'faster' compositions, influenced by Haley's relocation to California and an evolution in his software environment. Critics noted that the record abandoned some of the hazy, lo-fi grain of Galactic Melt in favor of a more technologically advanced and urgent sound. While some reviewers at Pitchfork and PopMatters felt the artist was refining rather than reinventing his aesthetic, others praised the increased energy and intensity. The EP reached number four on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart, solidifying Haley's position as a leading figure in the synthwave and chillwave movements while bridging the gap toward his 2017 album, Iteration.
