Danzig 4P represents the final statement from the band's original 'classic' lineup (Danzig, Christ, Chuck Biscuits, and Eerie Von). Released in 1994, it saw the band moving away from the Rick Rubin-produced 'muscle-bound' sound of their first three albums toward something more experimental and atmospheric. The album is heavily influenced by Glenn Danzig's interest in the Four P Movement and The Process Church of the Final Judgment, lending it a thematic weight of occult conspiracy. Sonically, the album is notable for its 'dry' production, which was a deliberate choice to create a more intimate and claustrophobic feel. It also features the band's first significant use of industrial elements and backwards guitar loops, most notably on the single 'Cantspeak.' Despite its experimental nature, it reached #29 on the Billboard 200, though it signaled the end of the band's commercial peak as the lineup fractured shortly after its release.
