Halo

Halo serves as the fourteenth studio effort from Amorphis and the final chapter in a conceptual trilogy that began with Under the Red Cloud and Queen of Time. Produced by Jens Bogren, the album represents the pinnacle of the band's 'Joutsen-era' sound, blending the aggression of their early death metal roots with the sophisticated arrangements of 1970s progressive rock. Lyrically, the album continues the band's long-standing collaboration with lyricist Pekka Kainulainen, who interprets Finnish mythology and the Kalevala through a modern lens. Musically, Halo is slightly more guitar-driven and stripped-back than its predecessor, Queen of Time, trading some of the orchestral bombast for sharper riffs and more prominent analog synth textures.
