Incunabula

Released in 1993 as part of Warp Records' influential 'Artificial Intelligence' series, Incunabula is the debut studio album by Autechre (Sean Booth and Rob Brown). While the duo would later become synonymous with extreme abstraction and algorithmic complexity, their debut is firmly rooted in ambient techno and electro. The album was a surprise commercial success, topping the UK Indie Chart and establishing Autechre as a leading voice in the burgeoning IDM scene. Sonically, it utilizes classic gear like the Roland TR-606 and Juno-106, resulting in a sound that is more melodic and rhythmically accessible than their subsequent discography.
