Rose Funeral

Rose Funeral emerged from the Cincinnati metal scene in 2005, quickly becoming a staple of the burgeoning deathcore movement. Their sound is a hybrid of traditional death metal's technicality and the breakdown-heavy structure of metalcore.

After gaining traction with their self-released demo and EP, they signed to Metal Blade Records, a move that solidified their position in the national metal landscape. Their evolution saw them moving from raw, grind-influenced beginnings toward a more polished, symphonic-tinged deathcore sound on later releases like 'Gates of Punishment'. Culturally, they are often remembered for a 2010 incident involving a crowd protest with UNO cards, which led to the tongue-in-cheek 'UNOcore' label. Despite this, they remain respected for their contribution to the 'MySpace era' of deathcore, influencing the genre's shift toward more melodic and atmospheric elements while maintaining extreme vocal diversity and rhythmic intensity.
