Tad Morose

Tad Morose is a Swedish heavy metal institution formed in 1991 in Bollnäs. Led by founding guitarist Christer 'Krunt' Andersson, the band has navigated numerous lineup changes while maintaining a remarkably consistent sonic identity characterized by 'dark' power metal.

Unlike the upbeat, fantasy-driven tropes of the German or Italian power metal scenes, Tad Morose leans into a more somber, mid-tempo, and riff-heavy approach. Their early work, such as 'Leaving the Past Behind', showed progressive leanings, but they reached critical and underground acclaim in the late 90s and early 2000s with the arrival of vocalist Urban Breed. This era, encompassing 'Undead', 'Matters of the Dark', and 'Modus Vivendi', is considered their 'golden age', defined by Breed's exceptional range and the band's dense, polished production. Following Breed's departure, the band successfully transitioned through vocalists Joe Comeau and Ronny Hemlin, shifting toward a more aggressive, traditional heavy metal sound. They remain a cult favorite in the European metal community, respected for their refusal to follow trends and their mastery of the 'dark power' sub-niche.
